Bat Removal Services During Blackout Season in Ohio

At Nest & Burrow Wildlife Services, we understand the challenges that come with managing bat populations in Ohio. In compliance with state regulations, we’re here to help you navigate the Blackout Season—a period when certain bat removal practices are restricted to protect maternal colonies and their young.

In Ohio, there are two restricted periods for bat exclusion:

Spring/Summer Restricted Period: From May 16th through July 31st, when 5 or more bats are present.
Fall/Winter Restricted Period: From October 15th through March 31st, if any bats are present.

During these periods, the exclusion of bats is prohibited unless written permission is obtained from the Ohio Division of Wildlife. This is to protect bats during their maternity season and hibernation.

However, we can still assist you in preparing for bat removal outside of these restricted periods and provide guidance on managing bat-related issues.
